Day of missile forces and artillery — memorial day, celebrated in Russia on November 19.

 

First Day of artillery was established by the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated 21 October 1944. Date November 19, was selected for a holiday is not accidental: 19 November 1942 with a powerful artillery preparation, the red Army began a counter-offensive during the battle of Stalingrad.

 

Since 1964, the holiday was celebrated as the Day of the rocket troops and artillery.

 

Do not confuse this holiday with another memorable day, which is celebrated on December 17 — in the Afternoon the strategic Missile forces.
