The Day of the Security Officer of the Russian Federation was established by Decree No. 1280 of 20 December 1995 of the President of the Russian Federation, B. N. Yeltsin. Until then, for many decades, the day of December 20 was celebrated informally by Soviet state security agencies as "Checker 's Day."
The security organs are on the guard of rest. Perhaps their work can be considered one of the indispensable in the country.
