ENInternational day of persons with disabilities
To focus public attention on the problems of persons with disabilities, the UN General Assembly in 1992, announced on 3 December international Day of persons with disabilities. Just ahead of this date ended the Decade of disabled persons by the United Nations in 1983. During these 10 years was adopted most of the international instruments related to the advancement of persons with disabilities in all countries.

However, the main purpose of this event is not to evoke pity for these people, but rather to remind that persons with disabilities are equal members of society. Thus, one should not forget that people with disabilities need of social protection and assistance.
Russia also supported the initiative and signed, adopted by the organization documents. Of course, to speak of a society without problems very early, but this should strive for. Compared to the times of the Soviet Union, people with disabilities in the country began to live better – earlier about them anywhere not even mentioned. But now people with disabilities is a rarity on the street, in contrast to the situation abroad. In Russia not less than 14.5 million people with disabilities. The country is still not provided the funds necessary for the free movement of persons with disabilities in the streets, that's why these people remain largely locked up in the apartment. Let's add to the complexity with the job search, small cash allowance and rejection by society. It is to draw attention to such problems and finding their solutions proclaimed day of persons with disabilities.
December 3, organises concerts and meetings, a reminder that people with disabilities need a full life. People with disabilities want the same as us. And remember this should more often, and better – try to influence the situation.
