Railroad day
Representatives of one of the first professions that were worthy of their own holiday, were railroaders. Celebrated the day these workers every year on June 25, starting in 1896 and until 1917. Established the holiday in the 19th century, in conjunction with the birthday of the great Emperor Nicholas I, in whose reign began the construction of Railways. On this day, all the railroad had the right to relax and in the evening in the hall of the Pavlovsk station for them having the reception with a concert.
However, the October revolution changed the tradition and the celebration was forgotten for almost 20 years. Again any day of the railway workers in 1936, when this came out it was an accident. In fact, from 25 to 29 July 1935 in Moscow was held the meeting of railwaymen, after which I. Stalin in the Kremlin thanked all the distinguished workers. He noted that the merits of railwaymen undoubted praiseworthy, and wished to employees every success. The following year, on July 29, issued a special edition of the newspaper "Beep", which was published in the government decree on the celebration of the Day of railway transport of the USSR. So, on the personal order I. Stalin, the festival returned to Russia.
Now Railways – the most accessible and popular form of transport. Therefore, it is clear that it plays an important role for citizens, but not less important Railways and the state. For example, the path has at least 39 percent of total turnover, more than 41 percent of passenger – that is, more than 1.3 billion people in the year.
Happy holidays to all railwaymen!
