The battle of Borodino (in the French version of — “battle on the Moscow river», FR. Bataille de la Moskowa) — the largest battle of the Patriotic war of 1812 between the Russian and French armies. The battle took place on the 7th of September (August 26, old style) 1812 in the village of Borodino, located 125 km West of Moscow.

Peace to the World - War is not necessary! This motto was distributed at the end of the last century in the 70-80s. The idea of spending a day each year was born almost 30 years ago.
