Day of workers of road management

In 1996, in Russia there is a professional holiday of workers of motor transport and road infrastructure. On the basis of the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of 14 October 1996, "On establishing the Day of workers of motor transport and road economy  this holiday is celebrated annually on the last Sunday of October. 

 

In accordance with presidential decree No. 556 dated March 23, 2000 "Of the Day of workers of road management» professional holiday of workers of the road sector began to celebrate annually on the third Sunday of October. Road transport represents one of the largest segments of the public domain.

 

Part of the road sector includes more than 3,000 institutions and enterprises of different ownership forms. The number of employees in the road sector and related industries is about 750 thousand people. 

 

Day of workers of road economy — is a celebration of those who build roads and bridges, who provides year-round maintenance and operation of complex traffic management, reliable and safe highways between the regions of our country.

 

Without the road network cannot be implemented articles of the Russian Constitution, which guaranteed the right to freedom of movement of persons, free movement of goods and services, the unity of the economic space. An important role is played by the road in solving social problems, the implementation of priority national projects. 

 

In recent years, the revival of production and rising incomes have led to a sharp increase in the fleet of vehicles, cargo and passenger transport. In accordance with the provisions of the Transport strategy of the Russian Federation, development of the road network should match the pace of socio-economic development of the country and to meet the needs of transportation in accordance with the growth of car ownership.
