ENThe day of Russian science
Russian science day February 8, was established by presidential decree No. 717 dated June 7, 1999 " On establishing the Day of Russian science.
This holiday marks the date of the Foundation of the Russian Academy of Sciences, established by order of the Emperor Peter I decree of the Senate on January 28 (February 8, new style) 1724.
In the USSR science Day was celebrated on the third Sunday of April, as in 1918, between 18 and 25 April, Lenin was "Sketch plan of scientific-technical works’, which was the actual recognition by science. Until today, many scientific groups celebrate science Day "old style– that is, on the third Sunday of April (in 2012, the festival falls on the 15th of April).
