Day of book and copyright
Every year on April 23, 1996 in the system of the United Nations celebrated the international holiday – world day of book and copyright. This date coincides with the date of the death of Cervantes and Shakespeare. In 1616 it was gone. Many famous authors such as Vladimir Nabokov, Manuel Mejia Vallejo, Maurice Druon, X. Laxness born and died on April 23.
The purpose of celebrating this day was drawing attention from both the General public and government agencies to books. We refer to the books as sources of information for obtaining knowledge. Books - a means of expression and communication, the basis of creativity and education, open our spiritual and moral values that lead to the creative achievements. Thanks to the book each culture can leave their mark in history, and also have the opportunity to learn about the culture of another nation. Thus, it is a bridge between civilizations, expressing values, knowledge, aesthetic feelings. We must not forget that the basis of dialogue, development and exchange of the main role is played by the book. Preserving cultural heritage, with their help support creative initiatives both in print and in a different form, dedicated to the tangible and intangible cultural wealth of mankind.
World day of book and copyright in recent years in Russia is becoming more and more widespread.
