ENInternational children’s book day
By decision of the International Board on books for this international day is celebrated since 1967. He was appointed on 2 April in honor of the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen. The purpose of this festival is to draw attention to the problems of distribution and availability of books for kids. In many countries of the world to this date time day youth and children's books, organized various exhibitions, competitions, conferences, performances and festivals that are dedicated to the best books in the world. In celebration of the International day of children's books for many publishers are various charity events, during which children's homes, boarding schools and children's libraries passed new editions. Also every two years on this day, the best of the author and the Illustrator of IBBY assign the prize of the Hans Christian Andersen.
Born Hans Christian Anderson in 1805 on the Danish island of Funen, in the old town called Odense. Father Hans was a poor shoemaker. Above the door hung a sign with the two-headed eagle, which meant that it only sew steam room shoes. From his father Hans heard the first of the tales, such as the history of Holberg, classic Danish literature, and the fables of La Fontaine, the sage of France. The father died when the boy was 14 years old, after which a future storyteller made his first trip to Copenhagen. There he tried to connect his life with theatre and learn how to sing, but those years were wasted. When I entered the University in 1828, Anderson released his first play “Love on Nikolaeva tower” and also a book called “the Journey on foot from Germanskogo channel to the island of Amager”. He traveled throughout Europe, visited Africa and Asia Minor.
Hans Christian Anderson died in 1875. In the last way to spend it came almost the whole of Denmark, beginning students and to the Royal family. On this day in the country was mourning.
